The Art of Austen Mengler
Austen Mengler is a concept artist, illustrator and graphic novelist from Perth, WA. He has 10+ years experience working freelance with international clients designing horror, science fiction, fantasy and pop culture characters and creatures for film, videogames, album artworks and comics. Clients include: Chapter 5 Studios, Pogo, M2M Studios, Rough House Publishing, Within Destruction, The Australian Water Corp, Ferocious Mind, Fremantle Arts Centre, Oz Comic-Con, Redbubble, Good Games. Austen has exhibited full time at pop culture conventions, galleries & events around Australia since 2013. He has also hosted live workshops as a guest at Supanova Comic-Con, Oz Comic-Con, The Fremantle Arts Centre and other events on stage, teaching his character & creature design Photoshop process in Q & A workshops and panels. Along with releasing his viral Pop Horror comedic digital artworks which reimagine pop culture characters in a horror setting online since 2008, Austen has also self published his three books. My Shadows (2014, 2022) is a black and white digital horror softcover art book (now in it’s remastered edition). Scary Sketches (2016) is another art book showcasing traditional drawings & Execution: Volume 01: Awakening (2022) is his scifi horror graphic novel, which ties into his long running post apocalyptic concept art world building IP series .
